Educational Seminars

While spending time in day-cares and pre-schools throughout my therapeutic practice, I recognize that many people have good intentions to support young children, yet many are missing vital understanding of development and practical strategies that can support the children in their care, creating more joy and peace for everyone.

As a result, I have created a few seminars on popular developmental topics that I would be delighted to share with your daycare or educational staff:

Sensory Processing:  It’s More than an Itchy Tag

Many teachers know about sensory issues within their classroom, but may not understand how the challenges in different sensory systems relate to each other and what types of behaviors can indicate more severe challenges that can impact learning and behavior. Dive into a deeper understanding of the term “sensory”.  Gain understanding around the symptoms of sensory processing challenges and how we can support children in our daily interactions.

The Impact of Emotional Language with Children

Early childhood educators have a unique and powerful opportunity to support the emotional growth of young learners through the use of presence, relationship, emotionally validating language, and empathy.  Learn about the importance of emotional attunement and how to set up the nervous system for regulation, learning, and social success by supporting emotional awareness at an early age.

Red Flags for Development

Every child develops at their unique pace.  There are many indicators of developmental challenges that are easy to spot and can be observed during daily classroom routines, if you know what you are looking for.  Discover indicators to look out for related to posture, processing, vision, and motor skills in order to support your students to get the services that can help them.

The Hidden Disability in the Classroom

Although stubborn behaviors are quickly identified within the classroom, there are often underlying reasons why a child may show rigidity, limited play schemes, clumsiness, and/or a strong need for routine.  Through this discussion on dyspraxia, we will break down the aspects of this hidden disability, and discuss strategies to support these children in the classroom

Approaching Meltdowns

Meltdowns happen at every age and every stage.  Let’s look deeper into behavior and the “why” of  a meltdown, and learn practical, in the moment, respectful ways that we can support young children, and ourselves, as we work on emotional regulation together.

These 90-minute talks are designed to be interactive with staff, and hone in on the unique situations in your facility to promote positive shifts to help staff and children alike.
